“Digkuns het Woema!”
Jacaranda National Arts Festival Poetry Competition 2010
Rules:

  1. This entry form must be completed in full and together with your poem/s should reach the judges on or before Friday, 16 April 2010 at the address shown below.
  2. Only TYPED entries will be accepted. Primary school learners may however write in clear copy by hand.
  3. Any style is acceptable, but forms such as the sonnet, quatrain, couplet etc. points to the poet’s ability. Poems must be in Standard English or Afrikaans. Any poems containing blasphemy or obscene language will not be considered for adjudication.
  4. Only an originally typed poem must accompany the entry form. Please use Arial font size 11 or 12. Your name and surname must be included on the back of the poem, not on the same side as the poem.
  5. Entry fees: the competition is free and no entry fee is payable.
  6. Orfeo Productions head office act as administrator for this competition. All enquiries regarding the competition must be directed to Susan Grobler on 082 827 5596. The entry form together with the poem/s must be posted, faxed or e-mailed to any of the contact addresses below:

  1. The following cash prizes can be won:

Open division: R3,000
High school: R1,000
Primary school: R1,000

  1. Winners only will be announced in each category. The judges' decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  2. The best poems, meeting the judges’ standards, will be on display during the Jacaranda National Arts Festival. For this reason, participants cede copy right to the organisers for the use of any poems entered into this competition for display during the festival, possible future publications, publishing in the Rekord (official media partner of the Arts Festival) and on the Orfeo Productions website: www.dignet.co.za, and any other publications related to the Arts Festival.
  3. The announcement of the winners and the prize giving will take place during the Jacaranda National Arts Festival (26 April to 2 May 2010). Details around the announcement and prize giving will be available at the “Digkuns het Woema!” stall during the festival.
  4. Only original poems of participants may be entered.
  5. No poems for which copy right is held by an outside person/organisation may be entered without written permission.
  6. Participants in this competition indemnify Orfeo Productions and/or the Jacaranda National Arts Festival from any claims or undisclosed rights that may arise with regard to any existing copy right on any poems that are entered into this competition.
  7. Organisers, sponsors and other stakeholders and their immediate families are not allowed to take part in this competition.
