Mr & Miss REKORD
RULES 2010
CATEGORIES:
- The competition is open to all boys and girls aged between 13-17 years (Rekord Scholar) and young adults from 18-24 years (Mr/Miss Rekord).
- Singers from 13-17 years (Rekorvoce Junior) and 18-30 years (Rekorvoce) may enter the two singers' divisions.
- A songwriter competition runs alongside the Rekorvoce competition; please see Rekord for more details.
HOME ADDRESS:
- Pageant contestants must be South African citizens living within Rekord's distribution areas.
PERSONAL STATUS:
- Pageant contestants must be single, never having been married, or never have had a marriage annulled.
GOOD MORAL CHARACTER:
- Each contestant must be of good moral character and must not have been convicted of a crime.
RESPONSIBILITY OF FINALISTS AND WINNERS:
- After final selection of the title holders, the finalists and winners shall portray good conduct and morals.
- The winners (1st, 2nd & 3rd) will be expected to do promotional work (a minimum of three public appearances) free of charge during the year of their reign, for shopping centres/venues/sponsors.
DISQUALIFICATION:
- In the event of disqualification prizes must be returned as the first runner-up shall become the recognised titleholder.
COMPETITION:
- A maximum of twenty contestants per category will be allowed to participate in each competition.
- Pageant contestants must be prepared to answer a few questions while on stage at the shopping centre.
- Pageant contestants are required to wear smart/casual wear and will be judged by an independent panel of judges.
- A pageant winner and two runners-up will be chosen at every shopping centre in every category. Winners (only) of each category will go through to the second round.
- Five pageant finalists in each category and three Recorvoce finalists in these respective categories will progress to the gala event on August 14, 2010.
- A guest artist will perform the songwriter winner’s winning entry at the gala event.
ENTRY FORMS AND PAYMENTS:
- Pageant contestants can enter prior to, or on the day of the event at the shopping centre/venue. To obtain free entry at the gate, entrants for the pageant at the Jacaranda Arts Festival on May 1 may enter beforehand.
- Pre-entries apply to Rekorvoce contestants in all instances.
- All entry forms for the pageant should be returned to Miempie or faxed to 088 012 991 3723.
- Rekorvoce entries must be sent to Douw, see above for more details.
- An entry fee of R100 per category applies. Entry fees may be deposited into:

OTHER:
- The organisers/employees/judges/sponsors will not be responsible for any loss, damage or injuries suffered during the competition.
- By entering this competition all contestants agree to accept the outcome.
- Winners will be required to sign a contract with the organisers.
- Legal action may be taken against anyone who does not abide by the rules of this competition.
